Tickets Coming Soon - join the waitlist for early access.
On Sunday 13 December, Sera presents From Canton to Bangkok with Lap-fai Lee: omakase style, counter dining, in Old Street. Ten courses from one of the UK's greatest Asian BBQ chefs.
LAP-FAI LEE
Lap grew up in Birmingham, in and around its Chinatown, and Cantonese cooking is where everything he does starts. He's been teaching it for fifteen years, from roast duck and char siu to seafood and butchery, and for the last decade he's been one of the country's go-to BBQ specialists, as fluent in Texas brisket as in siu yuk. His instagram, @oishinboy is the account half the chefs you follow, already follow.
THE FOOD AND THE EXPERIENCE
Cantonese is the backbone, and then Lap goes in multiple different directions. The menu starts in Japan, with pressed mackerel sushi and a kombu-cured sea bass, pulls back to Canton for the roasts, Iberico char siu and pork jowl siu yuk, then heads south through a coconut seafood hotpot and a tea-smoked squab with mole massaman, before ending in Vietnam with coffee ice cream and coconut sticky rice. Ten courses, each plated individually and served one at a time.
