From Paris to Saigon - Story Cellar x Thuy Pham
On 29 June, Sera invites you to ‘From Paris to Saigon’ - a one-day collaboration exploring the deep and layered relationship between French and Vietnamese cuisine. Two distinctive kitchens will come together to create a menu that reflects a legacy of colonial influence, adaptation, and culinary reinvention.
Story Cellar—the Covent Garden offshoot of the acclaimed Restaurant Story, known for its pared-back, precise take on French cooking—and Thuy Pham, the Vietnamese cook, author, and storyteller whose food is rooted in heritage, memory, and bold, expressive flavour.
Few culinary relationships are as complex as that of France and Vietnam. Colonial rule brought French ingredients and methods to Southeast Asia—but what emerged was something wholly new. Vietnamese cooks reimagined these ideas on their own terms, creating a cuisine that is elegant, inventive, and unmistakably theirs.
This menu is a tribute to that evolution. Expect dishes that move fluently between both worlds—rotisserie meats with fragrant herbs, sauces lifted with fish sauce or butter, and plates that speak to both history and place. Each course tells a story—of migration, creativity, and cultural exchange.
Located in the heart of Covent Garden, Story Cellar is a refined yet informal rotisserie and wine bar, created as a sister venue to Tom Sellers’ Michelin-starred Restaurant Story. Focused on seasonal ingredients, classic technique, and beautifully executed simplicity.
Chef Thuy Diem Pham is a bestselling author and former Head Chef and restaurateur of London's acclaimed The Little Viet Kitchen. It was here that Thuy established her culinary legacy, combining the precision and creativity of restaurant cooking with the comfort and soul of home-style cooking. Her authentic approach to Vietnamese cuisine, paired with a deep understanding of London’s evolving food scene, has left a lasting impact on the UK’s culinary landscape.
This event is in partnership with OpenTable, and their summer campaign celebrating the West End—spotlighting everything from award-winning hotspots to local legends and hidden gems.
