If I had a... Chet's Kebab Shop at BiBi

For one day only, on April 14th, Chet Sharma will launch a family style Sunday lunch at BiBi. This Sunday lunch, with its sharing kebab platters, is inspired by the meals he had with both his paternal and maternal ‘BiBis’ (grandmothers) growing up, who were also the inspiration for his restaurant’s name.

BiBi and Chet’s traditional tasting menu, which is known as one of the best in London, embraces the full variety and different cuisines from around India. Chet’s menu changes with each season, led by the spices and herbs that make his dishes unique.

Chet’s path to opening Bibi is quite remarkable. While working towards a PhD in physics from the University of Oxford, he worked part time at a number of London’s leading Michelin-starred restaurants, including Benares and Locanda Locatelli. After discovering his passion and love of restaurants, he went on to work at two Michelin-starred Mugaritz, Simon Rogan’s Umbel Restaurant Group, two-starred Mark Birchall’s Moor Hall, and also, the recently crowned three-starred, The Ledbury.

In 2017, Chet moved to become Group Development Chef at JKS Restaurants – with whom he eventually opened BiBi in September 2021. Bibi was GQ Restaurant of the Year 2022, Opening of the Year and placed at no. 5 in the National Restaurant Awards 2022.
